  6. Inspiration:
  7. ------------
  8. My fascination with those cool amiga MOD files lead me to do this.
  9. Frank Seide's terrific program "The Sound-Trecker" and his comprehensive
  10. documentation inspired and helped me to decipher and play with the files.
  11.  
  12. Requirements:
  13. -------------
  14. System 6.0.7 or greater
  15. Any Mac
  16. 400K free memory minimum
  17. Lots of MOD files!!!!
  18.  
  19. Basics:
  20. -------
  21. ModVoicer will let you open one MOD file at a time.  It prefers files with
  22. SoundTrecker's signature, but will try to open anything you choose.  The
  23. MOD file detection is minimal at this point.  Once the file is open, you'll
  24. get a window with a list of the valid samples in the MOD.  Double-clicking
  25. on a list item, or selection of several will open a window for each voice.
  26. (up to 10 voice windows)  When a sound window is in the front of the screen,
  27. any non command-keys will trigger the sound to be played at a frequency related
  28. to the ASCII of the key.  If the sound list is foremost, Close will close
  29. the whole MOD.  Otherwise, Close will remove the front voice window.
  30.  
  31. You can change the Volume via the Volume menu (tricky!!), the base
  32. rate of the samples, and the display method (dots or lines) via the
  33. Options menu.
  34.  
  35. Choosing the Export command in the File menu will do the following:
  36. If a sound window is frontmost, it will let you save either a soundEdit
  37. file with the sample, or create a ResEdit owned resource file with the
  38. sound in it.  If you have selected mutilple samples in the list, Export
  39. will create a resource file with all selected sounds in it.
  40. Choosing Export Merge lets you put the selected sound(s) into an existing
  41. resource fork (taking care not to overwrite previously saved 'snd ' rsrcs).
